Donovan "phattgroov" Henderson was born and raised in a city just hours north of New York City. His stomping grounds is Kingston, New York, where he began his music career. Growing up in a musical family, Phattgroov was the last in line to play the drums. His first love was the percussion. Later, he would develop his skills by playing for several locals acts and practicing to a "click track" with head phones on at his home church. Like most musicians, Phattgroov grew up a pentacostal church where his uncle was the pastor. All of his cousins were either singing in choir or playing an instrument and one of his uncle's (Tony Lindsay) was the lead vocalist for over 15yrs. for GRAMMY Award winning, Carlos Santana. So, for Phattgroov, music creating abilities came natural to him since its in his genes. Always listening to all kinds of music, Phattgroov would later develop an interest in sound engineering, while he continued to keep his pulse on what makes a musician a complete musician. It was then, that he started writing songs, and creating beats. He taught himself how to sequence and program music and the rest is history. Phattgroov started his own production company called Phattgroov Entertainment in 2003. Look out for Phattgroov music...soon to come!
